This unit was developed for an elementary classroom with exercises appropriate for pre-school, kindergarten, grades 1-3 or the non-graded 1-3 primary. The theme of the unit, "Poison Investigator," was created to increase student awareness of poisons to which he or she could be exposed. The unit includes a set of five lessons and supplemental exercises that incorporate several basic skills in each daily assignment. At the end of the program each student will be able to: understand the dangers of poison to the human body, identify the poison symbol, identify the roles of emergency personnel, understand his or her role in educating younger children about poisons, and gain an appreciation of how humans interrelate with the environment. These are free to teachers (K-3) within Kentucky.
