Professional Education offerings from the
Kentucky Regional Poison Center
The Kentucky Regional Poison Center, part of Norton Healthcare, has developed an education
series to offer AMA PRA Category 1 TM Credits for physicians, and Continuing Education Credits (CEU)
for Nurses and Pharmacists. This site will allow you to review the educational material and receive
CE credit while on-line. The offerings are also available for review and as a resource for those
who do not wish to receive continuing education credits. No personal information will be required
for those who simply wish to review the information or use it as a resource.
There is no fee for any of our courses.
Our current topics offered are:
- Green Tobacco Sickness
- MDMA ("Ecstasy")
- Snake Envenomation in the State of Kentucky
- Organophosphate Toxicity
- Clonidine and Related Imidazoline Derivatives
Process
- Select the course(s) you wish to take online. Each course is approximately one hour in length.
No partial credit may be given.
- For all new registrants - Complete all fields in the registration form. If you have
previously registered, supplying your email address and a previously chosen password will
allow a rapid registration
- Review the material and complete the education selection. A bibliography of further reading
is available for your reference. Also, the material is available to download and review off-line
if you prefer.
- If you wish to submit for continuing education credits, complete the test. All questions
must be answered before submission can occur. Your score will be automatically tallied and assessed
for a score of 85% or greater. Functionality allows you to go back and retake those questions missed. .
- Complete the evaluation of the course. Submit to the provider appropriate for your profession.
- Print your certificate. (If a printer is unavailable to you, a certificate can be mailed to you within
2 weeks by contacting the appropriate individual for your profession below.)
Hardware/Software Requirements.
If you are reading this information right now on a browser, you have everything you need to complete
this CME course. Also, once you complete each course's requirements, you have the ability to print your
certificate so you will need a printer. If you do not have access to a printer a certificate can
be sent to you at your request. The service is offered free of charge.
